Barry Sadler was awarded the Purple Heart.
Barry Allen Sadler was born in 1940 in New Mexico.
He served in the United States Air Force (1958–62) and in the United States Army (1962–67).
Barry is the author of the 'Ballad of the Green Berets' #1 hit song from 1966.
He married Lavona Edelmond and they had three children together, Brooke, Thor and Baran.
Sadler died of cardiac arrest on November 5, 1989 in Tennessee.

He served in the Vietnam War from late December 1964 to late May 1965.
