He was selected by Lord Nelson to be his First Lieutenant on the flagship HMS Vanguard, and for his gallant conduct at the Battle of the Nile was promoted Commander 3 Oct 1798. 4. He served throughout the Napoleonic wars, in the course of which he captured or destroyed several French warships (Refs 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7). See also Ref 8. 5. He was appointed Rear-Admiral of the White 10 Jan 1837, and d. unm, 6. He was succeeded by his brother William [Galwey-44].
