Biography

James Muscarella has Italian Roots.

To clear up any confusion this is a general rundown of the marriages and children of the following 5 interconnected people:

Filippo "Phillip" D'Andrea, Angelica Panepinto, Antonino "Anthony" D'Andrea, Maria "Mary" Vacanti and Giachino "James" Muscarella

It all starts in Valledolmo, Sicily:

Filippo "Phillip" D'Andrea marrying Angelica Panepinto in Valledolmo 21 Nov 1883. Filippo died shortly there after in Valledolmo on 30 Dec 1883 leaving Angelica widowed and pregnant with child. Shortly after Angelica gave birth to Filippa "Phillipena" D'Andrea born on 31 May 1884 in Valledolmo.

Antonino "Anthony" D'Andrea (Filippo's Brother) Then traveled to the US with Angelica Panepinto and shortly after they married in 1886. He Adopted Filippa as his own and they together had a son, Antonio "Anthony" C. D'Andrea Born 1 Mar 1890. Angelica then died 6 months after on the 8th of September 1890 leaving Anthony now widowed with 2 children.

Meanwhile back in Valledolmo....

Maria "Mary" Vacanti (born 17 Oct 1871) married Giachino "James" Muscarella (born 5 Jan 1864) sometime around 1889/1890 and they had a child Cosima "Minnie" Muscarella (Born 20 Jun 1891). Giachino and his recently widowed mother emigrated to the US and settled in Buffalo in 1891 and after settling in they then sent for Maria and Cosima to join them in 1892. Unfortunately Giachino passed shortly after they arrived in the US. Maria, now a widow with a child, along with her mother in-law, worked to make ends meet by renting out rooms in their home and running a laundry service.

Then in 1895/1896 Antonino "Anthony" D'Andrea and Maria "Mary" Vacanti get married in Buffalo. Antonio also adopts Minnie as his own and they go on to have 5 more children. Frances Angelica D'Andrea Born 25 Oct 1897, Mildred A D'Andrea 1 Oct 1900, Genevieve "Jennie" D'Andrea 11 Aug 1904, Josephine Hope D'Andrea 7 Apr 1909/1910 (conflicting dates) and James Vincent D'Andrea 21 Oct 1911.

So that is the long winding story of the D'Andrea/Panepinto/D'Andrea/Vacanti/Muscarella family - Now to make it even more confusing 2 of the D'Andrea sisters married 2 brothers from the Guzzetta family, 2 other D'Andrea sisters married a uncle and his nephew from the Iuppa family and one of the Guzzetta brothers sisters also married a nephew from the Iuppa family.... But that's another story....

Thank you to cousin, Janice Gormican for finally locating the DOD for Giochino. Its been a mystery for some time and it is finally resolved.

I found his birth record, his correct name came from Cosmia's birth record. He most likely died about 1892-3, as Sicilians didn't divorce. I have no idea how the state of NY came up with Domonic.
