  • WWII draft card states birth as Phillips, Missouri, of which it appears there is none so registrant likely misunderstood when completing it.

Biography

The early years

Rollen Aubuary[1] Hargis was born in Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri[2] on the 27th of April 1910[1][2] to Albert Hargis[2] and Victoria Nanney[2].

Family Life

He married Mildred Irene Macy[2], but it is not believed they had children.

In October of 1940 he confirmed he was 5' 9 and 135 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a light brown complexion. Att theim he was working as a farmer, and renting a farm from Thomas Eastar in Henderson, Missouri[1]

He was working in Sheet Mtetla[2] and his final home would be on Rt 6, Henderson, Rusk County, Texas[2]

Death

He died of a skull and neck fracture while falling from the roof of a building while working on the 22nd of June 1953[2] in Dangerfield, Morris, Texas[2]. He would be buried in the Goodsprings Duncan Cemetery in Good Springs, Rusk County, Texas[6]

FALL VICTIM SERVICES HELD NEAR HEDERSON[7]

Henderson, June 25 (spl.) - Final rites for Rollen A. Hargis, 43, who was killed in a fall while working on a building at the Lone Star Steel Company at Daingerfield Monday, were conducted at Good Springs Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. .L. McAdams officiating.

Burial was in Duncan Cemetery.

Hargis had been employed by the Brown & Root Construction Company for the past 17 months and had been making his home in Henderson for about 20 years. He is survived by his wife Mildred Hargis, Henderson; sister, Miss Ester Hargis, St. Louis; three brothers, John and Lee Hargis, St. Louis; Ry Hargis, Vida, Mo., father, Albert Hargis, Vida, Mo.
