Alpheus was born in 1863, the son of George Jarvis and Isabella (Montague) Geer.
He married Florence Montague Smith in NY.
He graduated from St. Stephen's College. He was the Founder of the Marshall Stillman movement for the rehab of ex-convicts. He served in the Cavalry in NY Troop A, and later in Depot Squadron A, which took its place. Discharged in 1919.

He passed away in 1940 and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, Bronx, NY
