George Marion Yocum 88 of Prairie City Illinois passed away at 8;09 a.m. Monday February 7, 2012 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy Ill. He was born January 24, 1923 in Monmouth, Ill , son of Theodore and Esther Arendt Yocum. On September 27, 1942 in Palmyra, Mo he was united in marriage to Grovene Powell, she survives. ALso surviving to mourn his passing, are one son, Larry George and Linda Sue Yocum, Springfield Tn. one daughter, La Nee Jean Beard, West Burlington Iowa, 4 grandchildren,Regina Stolp, Prairie City, Travis George Yocum, David Cromer, West Burlington, Kellie Sloan Mt Pleasant Grove Ia., 5 greatgrandchildren, 2 brothers, Gene Yocum, Burlington Iowa and Jon Yocum Avon Il.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Harry Yocum, 2 sisters, Susie Powell and Joe Smith.

Marion had been employed by Heath Moteo Company, Bushnell, Janitor at Western Illinois University, Vaughan and Bushnell Hammer Fctory. He served his country during World War 11 in he U.S. Navy serving on board the Prince William Carrier.

Funeral services will 1p.m Saturday February 12, 2011 at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with the Rev David Hoffman officiating. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home Burial will follow the services in Bethel Cemetery with Military rites by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion. Friends may view nad sign the register book at the Jones Mortuary from 9-5;30 p.m. Friday February 11.

Memorials can be made to Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion.
