Biography

Charles, son of James & Mary, was baptised on 19 January 1749 in Aston upon Trent, Derbyshire, England.[1]

According to 'Pedigrees of the county families of England...' he took the name and arms of Holden in 1691, he married, 1st, the Hon Mary Cockburn, daughter of Lord Forester, and by her, who died in 1777, had one son, who died an infant; he married, 2ndly, Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Thomas Whitmore, who died s.p. 1795. He married, 3rdly, in 1798, ROSAMOND AMELIA DEANE, who died 11 Aug 1820. He died in 1821.

The reference to marrying Rosamond Deane in 1798 is possibly incorrect as there is a marriage record for Charles Holden and Rosamond Deane in 1796. [2]
