Biography

Henry was born in 1866. ^[1]

He was the son of Henry Richmond Hoghton Gale and Emma Sneyd.

He married Kathleen Jane Villiers-Stuart, daughter of Captain Henry John Richard Villiers-Stuart and Jane Rigby Murray, in 1903. ^[2]

He was Intelligence Officer in Rimington's Corps of Guides during the Boer War 1899-1902.

In 1916 He was Assistant Director of Works, 1916-17, and chief engineer, 1917-18. He served in France during World War I with the Royal Engineers. He retired with the rank of Brigadier-General.

He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George.

After in 1919 retiring he moved to Vancouver, Canada where his neighbor was Charles Colville, who married his daughter Kathleen after his death.^[3]

He passed away in 1930. He is buried in the Churchyard of St. Stephen's, Mount Newton.
