Elizabeth "Betsey" Whitney was born around 1810 in Standish, Maine^[1].

She married Nelson Merrill on 23 August 1835 in Westbrook, Maine^[2]. They had five children^[3]:

1. Lewis F., born 16 Sep 1837; died young

2. Charles F., born 22 Feb 1841; married Emma Whitney

3. Edwin C., born 31 Jul 1843; married 1st Carrie Bacon, 2nd Hattie Fletcher

4. Frank W., born 27 Jan 1848; married Julia Whitney

5. Carrie A., born 17 Nov 1850; married Nathaniel Hatch

Elizabeth passed away on 7 March 1896^[4] and is buried in Eastern Cemetery in Gorham, Maine.
