Margery Bowes was the daughter of Sir Ralph Bowes, of Streetlam, and Elizabeth Clifford, daughter of the Shepherd Lord.[1] [2] She was born about 1510.[3]
Before 1529, she married Sir Ralph Eure, of Foulbridge, son and heir apparent of the 1st Lord Eure.[1][2][4]
They had three sons (William, Ralph, and Thomas) and two daughters (Frances, wife of Robert Lambton; and Anne).[1][2]
Margery's husband was a leading player in the War of the Rough Wooing, a war that seems to have been manufactured by the Eure family. He got himself killed at the Battle of Ancrum Moor 6 March 1544/5, only a year after his father became a peer; his son William succeeded to the title three years later.[1][2]
Marjorie survived her husband, and was alive in 1566 when Elizabeth Hutton left her a small bequest.[5]
There are no records of her death or burial.
There is a Find a Grave Memorial for Marjorie, however, it doesn't appear to be based on fact. The memorial has an exact death date for her, which would be quite rare. The memorial states that she was buried at St. Giles Churchyard; yet, there are no burial records for Marjorie in that parish. [6]
