Amy E Platt was born 4 October 1920 in Pennsylvania, USA. She was the daughter of Robert Platt and Amy Scott. She had an older brother Robert A Platt Jr.

In 1930, Amy E Platt (9) lived in Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania with her father Robert A Sr (30), mother Amy E (29), and brother Robert A Jr (10). [1]

In Mar 1938, her parents filed for divorce. On 7 Jan 1939, their divorce was finalized. [2]

1940s

In 1940, Amy Platt (19) lived in Chester with her mother Amy (39) and brother Robert (20). [3] Her father Robert Platt (40) lived in Chester Township with her grandmother Mollie S (61). [4]

On 26 Mar 1940, her father Robert Platt married Kathryn M Trosino. Kathryn was divorced, born 1905, and the daughter of Matthew and Anna Grant. [5]

On 4 May 1940, her mother Amy E Platt (39) married William L Gibson (43) in Delaware County. [6]

In Mar 1949, her stepsister Genevieve E Grant announced her engagement to Dr. John W. Fitzmaurice. [7] On 24 Sep 1949, her sister Genevieve E Grant married John W Fitzmaurice in Delaware County. [8] [9]

Her father Robert A Platt married Celia Ray Long. Celia was born 1900 in Pennsylvania, widowed, and the daughter of Edward and Phoebe Platt.

In Dec 1972, her father Robert Platt Sr (73) died at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby. He had resided at 226 W Brookhaven Road in Brookhaven and retired constable, Sun Oil Co, and plumbing inspector. [13]

Amy 'Betty' Platt, 88, Aston resident; Chester native

Amy "Bety" Platt, 88, of Aston, a former child-care provider, died Aug. 23 in the Lima section of Middletown.

Born in Chester, Miss Platt lived in Aston for many years. She was educated in Chester and Brookhaven. Miss Platt was employed by the Penn-Delco School District before her retirement. In the 1950s and '60s she worked as a caregiver for many children from Middletown and other areas of Delaware County including the son of former American Bandstand host Dick Clark.

Miss Platt was a member of St. Joseph Church, Aston. She had enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her mother and brother and throughout Europe with relatives and friends. Miss Platt was the daughter of the late Robert A. and Amy Scott Platt and the sister of the late Robert "Bob" Platt.

Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Bateman Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven.

Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial: St. Michael Cemetery, Chester.

Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Platt, a longtime Chester resident, moved to Brookhaven 15 years ago. Her husband, Robert A., an employee of the Sun Oil Co., has been a constable in Brookhaven for several years. Mrs. Platt was an active member the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brookhaven Fire Co. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. John Fitzmaurice of Drexel Hill; three brothers, John and Joseph both of Chester, and Vincent of Reading, and four grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the William S. Bleyler funeral home, 500 W. 22nd st. Solemn high mass of requiem will be sung at Our Lady of Charity Church, Brookhaven, at 10 a.m. A viewing will be held at the funeral home Monday evening. Burial will be private.

He retired from that job in 1970 after 38 years of service. Platt's duties in the earlier years of his job included making arrests. This was before the borough had a police department. He retired from Sun Oil Co., Marcus Hook, in 1965 after 20 years of service. Other positions he held included plumbing inspector for both Chester Township and Brookhaven. He also served as treasurer of the Delaware County Constables Association. He was an honorary member of the Brookhaven Fire Co. and the Gelton Hose and Chemical Co. Mr. Platt was a member of the Delaware County Firemen's Association; Loyal Order of Moose; the Lloyd Athletic Club; Sun Oil Sapphire Club and the Delaware County Pinochle League. Surviving are a son, Robert Jr. of Aston; two daughters, Amy E. of Aston and Mrs. John Fitzmaurice of Upper Darby, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Edward E. Bateman Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven. Services will be 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chester. Burial will be in the Middletown Presbyterian Cemetery.
