John and Margaret had at least one child, John Graham born in 1643 and baptised 17 July 1643 at Kilsythe, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

He died on 12 August 1645, at Tamrawer House, just before the Battle of Kilsyth to which he was about to lead his troops to the battle in support of his kinsman James Graham 1st Marquess of Montrose.
