John Saltzman, Sr. was one of the children born to Michael Saltzman and his wife Elizabeth. John, his parents and siblings immigrated to the US, arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana from their native France on March 12, 1840.
John was united in marriage on October 5, 1857 in Orleans Parish, Louisiana to Jacobina Buchler.
