SANDUSKY - Earl W. Cherry, 72, of Sandusky, died late Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 2006, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 14, 1933, in Sandusky. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Cherry worked at the Ford Motor Co. as a millwright for more than 20 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed woodworking and working on crossword puzzles. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and American Legion.
He is survived by his daughter, Denise S. Cherry of Sandusky; two sisters, Carol (Robert) Brutcher of Norwalk and Celia Harding of Bryan, Ohio; eight brothers, Allen Cherry of Monroeville, David (Joann) Cherry of Norwalk, Gene Cherry of Monroeville, Lonnie (Eleanor) Cherry of Monroeville, Lynn (Betty) Cherry of Sandusky, Melvin (Joann) Cherry of Monroeville, Roy (Eunice) Cherry of Norwalk, Wayne Cherry of Monroeville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Burdette and Clara Elizabeth (Hehrer) Cherry; wife, Diane S. (Bennett) Cherry in 2001; son, Dennis David Cherry; and sister, Ellen Johnson.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until funeral services at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky. The Rev. Gary R. Ulrich will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
