Biography

David R. White was born June 16, 1830 in Perquimans County, North Carolina, the son of Jesse and Nancy (Kinyeon) White.^[1]

David's siblings were:^[2]

The 1850 U.S. Census listed David at the age of 20 with his parents and seven other siblings living on a farm in Jackson Township of Jackson County, Indiana.^[2]

David married Mary Stanfield about 1852. Mary is believed to have been born January 7, 1834 in Seymour, Jackson County, Indiana, the daughter of John Stanfield (1816–1867) and Susan (Sweany) Stanfield (1814–1876).^[1]

David's youngest son Jesse was just 9 months old during the 1865 Kansas State Census. David was 35 years old at the time with his wife and three sons living on their own farm in Jackson Township of Riley County, Kansas.^[4]

The 1870 U.S. Census shows David at 40 years of age with his wife Mary at 36 and three boys, 17 year old William, 12 year old Albert, and 5 year old Jesse (indexed as Jerree) living on the farm in Riley County, Kansas.^[5]

In the 1875 Kansas State Census, David is listed at the age of 45 with his wife and 4 children living on the farm near the town of Riley in Grant Township of Riley County, Kansas.^[3]

In 1880, the U.S. Census shows David and Mary with their two youngest children, Jesse and Nora living at home on the farm in Grant Township.^[6]

The 1895 Kansas State Census David and Mary in their sixties living alone in Manhattan, Kansas.^[7]

In the 1900 U.S. Census, David is shown to be 70 years old, Mary was 67, living in Manhattan, Kansas. Living with them is their 27 year old daughter Nora with her husband John M. Bush and their 4 year old daughter Laura A. Bush.^[8]

David R. White passed away December 3, 1901 and was buried at Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan, Riley County, Kansas. He was survived by his wife Mary until 1907. ^[1][9]
