John alias Jak was born about 1430 in Dundee son to Sir John Scrymgeour Constable of Dundee by his third wife Marion Abernethy.
John became a burgess of Dundee. RMS Vol.ii 1502 see [6]
He married Elizabeth Mason and on 1 Dec 1480 they were jointly infeft in the lands of Sandyford, in Fife. RMS Vol. ii 1508 see [7]
John Scrymgeour and Elizabeth Mason had issue:
John was known locally as Jak Scrymgeour. [1]
John died about 1490 and on 24 July 1490 his widow Elizabeth granted 14 merks annual payment to the parish church of Dundee furth of a tenement in Dundee sometime owned by the deceased Robert Masoun.[2]
Two years later Elizabeth made a donation to the Altar of St Blaisius in the parish church of Dundee. [3]
In 1495 and 1500 Elizabeth bequeathed further funds for altars to the Body of Christ and St John the Evangel.[4] Elizabeth's final donation was made to the altar of St Thomas in the parish church at Dundee on 27 Sept 1510. [5]
His eldest son and heir, David, died about the same time. Elizabeth Masoun and their son Alexander survived him.
