Biography

Dudley was the eldest son of Alexander Cosby and Elizabeth L'Estrange.[1]

He married Sarah, daughter of Periam Pole on 14th April 1699 and had three children:

  1. Sarah, born 2nd April 1700
  2. Elizabeth, born 6th March 1702
  3. Pole, born 14th April 1703.[2]

Soon after the children were born the family hit hard times and Dudley signed up for the army. His wife and children were left with relatives initially before the children were sent to boarding schools in England.

He died at his cousin Humphrey Minchin's in 1729.[3]
