Edwin was born in 1898. His date of birth has been taken from his death record, but no birth record located. It is believed he was born in England and emigrated to New Zealand.

He served in both World Wars. He was in the RNZAF. A.C.I. 433510. While the cemetery record notes his service and division, and although his burial is in the Serviceman section, no military file has been found on Archway or any commemoration on the Online Cenotaph to provide more detail.

He passed away in 1972 when he was 74 years old.
