Biography

Anne Hampden was born in 1625. She was baptised on 19 April 1625 at Great Hampden, the second daughter of John Hampden^[1][2] and his wife, Elizabeth Symeon. ^[3]

She married, about 1641, Sir Robert Pye, son of Sir Robert Pye and his wife, Mary Croker ^[4][1] with £2000.^[5] They were the parents of at least 3 sons, Hampden, Edmund and Richard and a daughter, Letice.^[1]

During the civil war Robert served as a parliamentary cavalry officer and in 1854 became a member of Parliament. Despite a trip to the Tower in 1660 Robert managed to survive the turmoil of the restoration.^[5]

Anne died in November 1701.^[5]
