Biography

Charles was born about 1810 in County Cork, Ireland. His first marriage took place in Ireland. He immigrated to the United States and when his first wife died, he subsequently married Caroline Matilda Waldby. He was murdered in Pineville, N Y about 1855 (1860). ^[1]

Charles Bunworth was born in 1809 in County Cork, Ireland. He first married Bridget Cronin, sometime before 1843. They had three sons, Joseph Charles, 1843; David, 1848; and William, 1849. Bridget died in 1850. Charles then married Caroline Matilda Waldby. They had two children, Sarah, 1853, and Albert, 1855. Charles died of a gunshot wound in Pineville, New York in February 1860 (“per Aunt Ad’s family history”). ^[2]

In 1855, the Bunworth family lived in a wood framed house in Richfield, Oswego, New York. All members of the household were born in New York, except as noted. The family included Charles Bunworth, 45, born in Ireland, a naturalized citizen, a laborer; his wife, Matilda, 32; and his children, Joseph, 10; David, 8; William, 5; and Sarah, 2. ^[3]

Charles Bunworth died on 22 February 1860. He is buried with his second wife, C. Matilda, and other family at Riverside Cemetery, Altman, New York. ^[4]
