Biography
William was the son of William Rowan and Mildred Thompson.[1][2]
He matriculated at Trinity College Dublin on 2nd May 1709 aged 15.[3] He graduated in 1713 and gained his M.A. and was made a fellow in 1717. LL.D. 1725
William married Elizabeth, daughter of Edward Eyre.[1][4]
His 1761 will was proved in 1768.[5] In it are named:

- father in law Edward Eyre
- daughter Jane wife of Gawin Hamilton and their son Archibald
- nephew Edward Shadwell, clerk
- brother Jerome
- niece Anna Rowan married to Joshua Davis

- kinsmen Dr Richard Townsend and Captain Samuel Townsend
