Biography

Agnes Aloyese Tynan has Irish ancestors.

Catherine Tynan was born on 28 August 1898 in Somerville, Massachusetts. Her parents were Irish immigrants Patrick J. Tynan and Ellen "Nellie" Cashin.^[1][2][3]

The 1900 U.S. Census shows Catherine, age 2, living with her parents and younger sister at 295 Lowell Street, Somerville, Massachusetts.^[4] In 1910, she is listed as 11 years old and living with her parents and three younger siblings at 1 Franklin Court, Brookline.^[5]

Catherine Tynan died of tuberculosis on 1 October 1919 at the age of 21.^[6][7] At the time of her death, she was a nun at the Notre Dame Convent in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her religious name was Sister Agnes Aloyese.
