Biography
Dorothy Wood was born on 10 December 1727 in Salisbury, Massachusetts[1].
She married Jabez Dow on 11 August 1750 in Falmouth, Maine[2]. They resided in Falmouth until the burning of the town in 1755, when they relocated to Standish (then called Pearsontown). They had eight children[3]:
- 1. Abner, born 28 Aug 1751; married Martha (Sawyer) Hinckley
- 2. Samuel, born 22 Apr 1753
- 3. Sarah, born 2 Mar 1756; died young
- 4. Joseph, born 17 Mar 1758; married Lucy Sanborn
- 5. Jabez, born 17 Jul 1760
- 6. Jonathan, born 20 Nov 1762
- 7. Sarah, born 20 Aug 1766; married Richard Pierce
- 8. Mercy, born 5 Jul 1771; died young
Dorothy passed away in February 1808 in Standish[4].
