Birth

Gershom was born 8 Nov 1794, in New Marlborough, Berkshire, Massachusetts. The only proof of her date of birth located to date is the Connecticut, Hale Collection of Cemetery Inscriptions and Newspaper Notices, 1629-1934.^[1][2]

Birth Research Notes

His parents may have been John Stannard (1754-1852) and Hepzibah Hewitt (1766-1848). Having trouble find proof of this Ancestry.com suggestion.

Marriage

Gershom married Lucina Granger somewhere between 1822 and 1826 (still trying to determine when the first child was born, as before the 1850 Census records didn't list family members.) Whether the marriage took place in Massachusetts or Connecticut has also yet to be discovered.

Military Career

This may or may not be the Gershom Stannard that was a Private during the war of 1812.^[4]

Death

Gershom died on 30 Aug 1879, and is buried in Forest View Cemetery in Winsted.^[5]
