Biography

John Alexander Huggins was born in Nova Scotia in 1893. He was the son of John Alexander Huggins and Gertrude Conway.[1]
On 10th February 1914, he married Miss Ellen Robertson in Saint John, New Brunswick.[2][3]
John's wife died in Halifax in 1963, in her seventy-third year.[4]
Later in life, Mr. Huggins was employed as a foreman with Nova Scotia Light & Power. In his leisure time, he was active in the Nova Scotia and Halifax Kennel Club, both as a judge and a breeder of Boston Terriers.[5]
On the 11th July 1977, John Alexander Huggins died at Halifax, in his eighty-fourth year.[5]

Research notes

  • Uncertain place of birth:—John's parents were married in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1889,[8] and continued to live there until about 1898.[9][10] A birth registration has not been found in the civil records for Nova Scotia, or in a wider search of the eastern seaboard States.
