He was born in St George, Canada on 22 Feb 1861 and is descended from a Scottish immigrant. [1]At the time of this profile, his father was 87 years and had come from Iowa to Brown County, then Spink, then Parker and finally Jefferson. Oliver's mother died in 1892and was buried in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Oliver had a 160 acre farm in Harmony township, Spink South Dakota and also worked as a carpenter on barns and other buildings. He was married in Frankfort in 1893 to Barbara Valders. She was born to Matilda and Peter Valders, the former proprietor of the hotel in Frankfort who died in 1901. Oliver and his wife are Catholic and have 10 children.
