John Luke Robinson was born on February 22, 1822 in Jasper, Georgia, United States, son of John Robinson (1786–1857).

His son was John Henry Robinson (1852–1925).

John died on October 30, 1890 in Jasper, aged 68.

transcription of John Robinson's Will

Know all persons that I John Robinson of the county of Jasper and State of Georgia being of sound disproving mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following: 1st It is my will that my body be decently buried and that my Soul return to God who gave it.

2nd I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary during life the following negroes (to wit) Hannah, Joe and Lona, and one thousand dollars in cash, at the death of my wife, the above property and money to be divided amongst the legatees of my estate as hereinafter stated.

3rd I give and bequeath unto my son James C Robinson the Negroes now in his possession at Three Thousand three hundred and thirty five dollars.

4th I give and bequeath unto my sons James C, and John L Robinson in trust for the children my daughter Martha A Wilbourn now has or may hereafter have – the negroes in her possession at Three Thousand Six hundred and sixty-five dollars, to be kept together for the support and maintenance of my daughter during life, and I wish an desire that it be understood not to be the property of Samuel J Wilbourn nor in any manner liable for his contracts of debts.

5th I give unto my son John L Robinson the negroes now in his possession at Two Thousand seven hundred and thirty dollars.

6th I give unto my son William C Robinson the negroes now in his possession (except little Jim) at Three Thousand two hundred and seventy dollars.

7th It is my will that all my debts be first paid out of my estate then all the shares to be made equal to the share given to James C and John L Robinson in trust for the children of my daughter Martha A Wilbourn.

8th It is my will an desire that after making the shares equal as above stated the whole of my estate of every character be divided into four equal shares and to be taken by the legatees in my estate at the appraised value the improvements I made by my children on the land where I have settled therein not to be valued.

9th I give and bequeath to my son James C Robinson, one fourth. To James C & John L Robinson in trust for the children of my daughter Martha A and to William C Robinson the remaining fourth part the property given to my wife at her death I desire divided under the same rule and restrictions as my other property.

10th I nominate and appoint my sons James C and John L and William C Robinson Executors to this my last will and Testament.

Before me J D Lovjoy Ordinary of County of Jasper, said county and State in open court personally came John L Robinson and James C Robinson Executors herein appointed of the last will and Testament of John Robinson late of said county deceased and produced before me the said last will and Testament and two of the witnesses to aid will Viz: James M Williams and John D Lovjoy, which witnesses being duly sworn, depose and say that they saw John Robinson, the Testator sign, seal declare and publish the instrument now presented as his last will and Testament freely voluntarily and of his own accord and without any influence or compulsion whatever, that at the time of executing Said will Said Testator was of sound mind and memory that deponents signed said will as witnesses in the presence of testator and at his special instance and request and in the presence of each other, and deponents farther say that they save O S Prophett sign in like manner.
