Eva J. Byers, 85, Brethren Home, New Oxford, formerly of 4418 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007 at the Hanover Hospital.
She was born Oct. 31, 1922 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Orville and Ruth Jacoby. Her husband Henry L. Byers Sr., died in 2000.
Mrs. Byers worked for many years at C.H. Musselmans and for many years caned chairs at the Jacoby Chair Factory.
Mrs. Byers is survived by four children, Henry L. Byers Jr. of East Berlin, Linda Speelman of New Oxford, Ricky E. Byers and his wife Phyllis of Gettysburg, Michael L. Byers of Gettysburg; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Hazel Jacoby of Gettysburg, Ethel Jacoby of Gettysburg, Ruth Millhimes of Gettysburg, Helen Kelley of Orrtanna; two brothers, James Jacoby of Gettysburg, Guy Jacoby of Clarksville, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Donald Jacoby, Glenn Jacoby, Kermit Jacoby, Orville Jacoby; and a sister, Mae Phillips.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m. from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Rev. Kenneth Reid officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. There will be a viewing Friday afternoon at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
