Biography

Elizabeth Barnes was born December 5, 1754, the daughter of Capt Seth Barnes and Elizabeth Rider of Plymouth, Mass^{[1] [2]}

In 1762, she emigrated to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia along with her family ^{[3] [4] [5] [2]}

On October 19, 1775, she married Samuel Sheldon Poole, a Harvard graduate from Reading Massachusetts who came to Yarmouth in hope of finding employment in the ministry^[2], and their children included:

1. Samuel, born September 10, 1776, who married Hannah Coffran^[2]
2. Seth, born April 9, 1779, who married Mary Cashenbury, daughter of Peter^[2]
3. Jonathan, born September 10, 1781, who married Elizabeth, daughter of Waitstill Lewis^[2]
4. Timothy, born December 25, 1783, who died young^[2]
5. Elizabeth, born May 15, 1785, who married Thomas Dalton 2nd and then married Benjamin son of Waitstill Lewis^[2]
6. Sophia, who died unmarried^[2]

Samuel Sheldon Poole, Esq died in October 1835 in Yarmouth^[2], and Elizabeth died 18 Mar 1839. They were buried in the Anglican Church Hill Cemetery^[6]
