He arrived in the Colony in 1841 in Bunbury with his family on the Parkfield and they settled in Australind.
He became postmaster and customs officer in Bunbury then he was with the Colonial Secretary's Office in Perth.
In 1850 he went to the Ballarat Goldfields and the returned and took up the position of Chief Clerk with the Customs Office.
MARRIED. At the Perth Cathedral, on Thursday, the 16th inst., by the Very Rev. Dean Pownall, LEONARD WORSLEY youngest son of Marshall Waller Clifton, Esq., of Australind, to ELIZABETH STORMONTH eldest daughter of John Ferguson, Esq., Colonial Surgeon.[1]
In 1862 he was appointed Collector of Customs.
On his death he left three sons and three daughters.
