Biography

Obituary

Arthur Tonna, Sr., 84, of Holden passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 in UMASS Memorial Campus surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Theodore and Veronica (Dima) Tonna and lived in Holden for more than 45 years.

Arthur leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary (Bosnakis) Tonna; 2 sons, a daughter, 5 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also survived by 2 brothers, 4 sisters, his step-mother, a daughter-in-law, a brother-in law, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Elliot Tonna who died in 2001; and his sisters, Loretta Bregou of Liverpool, NY and Vicki Pastorelle of Mystic, CT.

Arthur graduated from Proctor Academy in Andover, NH and Worcester Junior College in Worcester.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was active in numerous Air Rescue Missions on Choto Island. He was an executive at Table Talk Pies in Worcester for many years. He was a life-long member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, the Worcester Tennis Club, and the Greendale YMCA. Arthur was an outstanding athlete who loved tennis, golf, skiing, ski jumping, football and especially wakeboarding, in which he was a celebrated performer.

Burial in Hope Cemetery in Worcester.
