Biography

Sadie was born in 1921. She was the daughter of George Chandler Mapes, Sr and Marie Dunlap.

Married:

1) Rutherfurd "Rusty" Hatch. They divorced after a year and a half. She got a divorce settlement in either May 1943 or May 1944. They had one son, William Averell Harriman Hatch.

2) Marion Orlando Blount (sometimes seen as Blunt), 14 October 1944. He was a Navy flier. When Sadie married Charles Nice, her last name was still listed as Hatch, not Blount. However, the marriage was notable, as it renounced the hefty divorce settlement from Sadie's first husband - which guaranteed her "two thirds of the first $5,000 of Rusty's income, 40% of the next $5,000, 25% of the third $5,000 and a share in the $220,000 trust fund established by his mother, Mrs. Barbara Rutherfurd." They divorced in 1949.

3) Judge Charles McKinney Nice, Jr. They married 22 July 1956 in Robertson, Tennessee. They had one son. They were still married when he died in December 2001.

4) John "Jack" Bingham.

She was part of the John Pake Custis Chapter of the DAR.

She passed away in 2018.
