Biography

Birth and Origins

The Honorable Col. Pierce Butler (MP of Kilkenny) was born 6 May 1774, the fourth son of Edmund Butler , 11th Viscount Mountgarret and Lady Henrietta Butler second daughter of Somerset Hamilton Butler, 1st Earl of Carrick.^{[1] [2] [3]}

Marriage and Family

He married Anne Marsh, daughter of Thomas Marsh, esq. in 1800^{[1] [2]}

Occupation

He held the office of Member of Parliament for Kilkenny in 1832, and held the seat until 1846. In the House he spoke against Tithe enforcement and against the continuation of the Act of Union ^[3]

He also gained the rank of Colonel in the Kilkenny Militia^{[1] [2] [3]}

Death

He died 13 Jun 1846^{[1] [2]}
