Biography

Walter came to Western Australia with his family and servants on the Warrior, arriving on 12 March 1830. He was granted 5,000 acres, and selected 129 acres in the Swan district and 500 in the Avon district by 1830.^[1]

He was Chairman of the Perth Town Trust in 1842, and Agent for the Bank of Australia. Walter was appointed to the Survey Office in April 1847. He sold most of his property by 1846 when his wife and daughters departed for South Australia per Joseph Allen in December of that year. His son WaIter joined his mother in South Australia in 1849.^[1]
