Henry was born near St Marylebone, Middlesex, England in 1827. He was the son of Thomas Watson and Eleanor Mary Kingston. He was baptised at St Marylebone on 23 Mar 1827^[1]

Henry, son of Thomas Watson, married Emily Frances Rowe on 10 December 1856 at St Andrew The Great's Church, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.^[2] Henry's marriage to was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1856 in the Cambridge district.^[3] They had 2 daughters:

• Lilian Mary Watson 1857–1918 died unmarried
• Maud Edith Eleanor Watson OBE 1864–1946 tennis player, later WW1 nurse, died unmarried
