Biography
Rev. Joseph Dyar was born at Malden, Massachusetts Bay, in early 1774, a son of Joseph, Jr., and Elizabeth (Nichols) Dyar; he was evidently the second child of this couple to be assigned Joseph as a given name: the baptism of an earlier Joseph was recorded in 1772[1], and though no death record has been found, it is assumed that he died in infancy. The Joseph of this profile married Sally Merritt -- sister of Susanna (Merritt) Dyar, wife of his brother John Nichols Dyar, and removed to Freeman, Maine, as had his brother. He died at Freeman at the end of January, 1859.
