Biography

Born about 1733 Jervoise Clarke was son of Samuel Clarke of West Bromwich in Staffordshire and his wife, Mary Jervoise. ^[1][2] He was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. ^[3][1]

By the testamentary request of his grandfather, Sir Thomas Jervoise who died in 1743 he took the surname Jervoise. ^[2] Jervoise was a member of the social club which met at the Bat and Ball and provided the funds for the Hambledon Cricket Club. ^[4]

On the 12th of July 1763 he married Kitty Warner, only daughter and heir of Robert Warner of Bedhampton in Hampshire. ^{[1] [2]} They were the parents of three sons, Thomas, Robert and Samuel. ^[2]

He succeeded his father in 1767 ^[1] and was returned to parliament for the first time in 1768 as member for Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. ^[1]

Jervoise died on the 5th of January 1808. ^{[3] [1]}
