- Richard was born at Itchel Manor, Crondall, Hampshire before 1530 probably about 1520-1525. He was the son of John Gifford and Joan Brydges. (Her surname was also spelled as Bruges, Burges and Brugge).
- 1541 approx. Married Anne Goring at Kings Somborne.
- 1544 Visitation of Hampshire noted as of Kings Somborne, Hampshire [1]
- 1569 died at Chesham in Buckinghamshire
