Private Browning is buried at South Park Cemetery, Roswell, New Mexico. [1] He was a member of the Quales Texas Cavalry, CSA. [2]
FAG memorial states he was married to Harriett Dayton and he was with the 1st Texas Partisan Rangers, CSA.
Death record of Cordelia Elizabeth Hicklin shows parents as Joe Allen Browning and Harriett Dayton. Cordelia was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1878. [3]
By 1880 Joseph and Hattie were in Tarrant County, Texas with Cordelia. [4]
1910 census shows Joseph and Hattie Browning living in Chaves, New Mexico with daughter May Browning aged 20 born in Texas and Maggie Browning aged 18 born in New Mexico. Joe is listed as a Stockman.[5]
