There were two people, both living at the same time, called "Sir Edward Gorges". One died in 1624 and the other died in 1625. They were cousins.

He was knighted in 1603, and in the burial register of Richmond, Surrey, is the entry, '1625, Aug. 29, Sir Edward Gorges, Knight, dyed, and was carryed to London to be buryed.'"
