Biography

Birth

No record has been found of the birth of Benjamin Paine, and his parents are unknown. According to his age of 77 years, 9 months, at his death in March 1886, he was born about June 1808.^[1] The 1850 census shows him as 42 years old, born in Maine.^[2]

Marriage

Benjamin Paine married Clarissa Lyford. The 1901 Lyford genealogy gives only his last name.^[3] The burial record of Clarissa and Benjamin Paine gives Benjamin's first and last names.^[1] The marriage probably occurred before 1837; in the 1830 census, the oldest child living in the household of Benjamin and Clarissa Paine is 13 years old.^[4]

Death

Benjamin Paine died on 28 Mar 1886, and he is buried at the Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Livermore Falls, Maine.^[1]
