Biography

Elaine Margaret Irons, 64, of Colfax, went to be with the Lord Tuesday (Nov. 25, 2008) at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born on Nov. 25, 1944, in Marlboro, Conn., a daughter of the late Albert and Eleanor Armstrong. Elaine was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed camping and spending time in Florida during the winter months. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog Mollie. She was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church. Elaine is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Garry L. Irons, whom she married Nov. 24, 1962. She is also survived by her three daughters and one son-in-law, Bonnie and Scott Walker of Colfax, Diana Uphold of Fairmont and Tammy Conrad-Price of Fairmont; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Denise Irons of Colfax; five grandchildren whom she adored, Morgan Uphold, Trai and Myranda Irons, MacKenzee Walker and Meghan Conrad. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Cindy Irons of White Hall; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Armstrong; her mother and father-in-law, Glen and Willa Irons; and two grandsons, Jarrett and Ian Conrad.Friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
