Arthur was born in January 1851 ^[A]. He was the son of Asahel Clapp and Susan Wilder. ^[1]

Research Notes

A. Death Certificate gives his age as 70 years, 2 mos, 14 days at time of death on 3 Apr 1921, which works out to a DoB of 20 Jan 1851, His grave stone agrees with the 1851 date ^[6], but the 1900 census gives his year of birth as 1848, and his death record gives his date of birth as January 20, 1837
