McKinney and internment was made in Oaklawn Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. D.W. Nicholas of Plano, former pastor of the Christian Church here. Delta Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. Mrs. Custer passed away at the Sanitarium of Paris Tuesday at 9PM after being critically ill for the past three weeks. She had been in failing health for several years. She was born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn, the daughter of Mr.& Mrs. Felix Cross and moved with her family to Texas in early youth. She became a member of the Christian Church early in life and had lived a consistant Christian life. She was united in marriage to Dr. J.P. Caldwell in 1881. Dr. Caldwell passed away in 1884. One child, Mrs. Howard McKinney was born to this union. On May 9, 1887, Mrs. Custer was married to J.F. Custer, publisher of the Delta Courier here for several decades and one daughter, the late Mrs. Frank Connell, was born to this union. Mr. Custer passed away in 1926 and since that time, Mrs. Custer had made her home with her son-in-law, Frank Connell, in Fort Worth, until the past few years, she had made her home with Mrs. McKinney. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. H.E. McKinney, three grandsons, Caldwell McKinney of Cooper, Robert Connell of Houston Jimmy Connell of Fort Worth; two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. C.F. Erben of Fort Worth. Pallbearers were Judge Newman Phillips, Chester McKinney, Joe Clark, C.E. Whitlock, J.M. Smiley and ??? True.
