Biography

Arthur was the son of Richard Townsend Herbert and his second wife Jane Stoughton.^[1]

He matriculated at Trinity College Dublin on 17th June 1799 aged 16½. Graduating with a B.A. in 1803 and attaining an M.A. in 1807.^[2]

Arthur was Rector at Ballyvourney in county Cork,^[3] and at Castleisland from 1832.^[4]

He married Jane, the daughter of Maynard Denny, at Church Hill in August 1811.^[3] They had:^[1]

7. Penelope Louisa, only daughter, married her first cousin Arthur Maynard Denny at Killarney in 1850^[5].

He died on the road from Killarney to Tralee when his horse bolted.^[6][7]
