Grissel Abel Burr was born on April 17, 1805 in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Connecticut, United States, daughter of Nathaniel Burr (1779–1871) and Sarah Burr (1781–1844). Grissel (17) married Joseph Mott (19) (born in 1803 in Suffolk, New York, United States; son of Jacob Mott and Mary (Buffett) Mott) on March 9, 1823 in Fairfield. Grissel died on March 8, 1883 in Bridgeport, aged 77. She was buried in Mountain Grove Cemetery and Mausoleum, Bridgeport, Fairfield County, Connecticut.[1]
