Biography
Zenas was born in Union, Tolland County, Connecticut which was also the home of the parents of his wife Rachel, the daughter of Simeon and Sarah Wright. Rachel's great-grandfather was a direct ancestor of Wilbur and Orville Wright. Zenas was loyal to the British during The American Revolution and was a private in the King's Rangers, stationed in what is now Vermont. At the end of the war Zenas and Rachel fled to the Bay of Quinte area in what was then Upper Canada. Britain allotted land to these loyalists but life was a struggle for them in their new country.
