Biography

Southern Cross of Honor Robert Franklin Beckham was a graduate of the United States Military Academy, a Lieutenant in the United States Engineers, commanded a horse artillery battalion under J E B Stuart and commanded the artillery of the II Corps of the Army of Tennessee with the rank of Colonel. He was mortally wounded at Columbia, before the Battle of Franklin.[1]

Son of John Grigsby Beckham and Mary Campbell Moore.[2] Robert passed away in 1864. Final resting place in Saint John's Church Cemetery, Ashwood, Tennessee.[3]
