Commander Edmund Seymour Denis Fremantle was born on June 2, 1904, the son of Admiral Sir Sydney Robert Fremantle and Lelia Hope Fremantle.
Edmund would marry twice in his life. On June 26, 1928 he married his first wife, Dorothy Clare Haldane Sinclair, the daughter of Major W. M. Sinclair.

On April 3, 1946, Edmund married his second wife, Edna Maud Cusselle, the daughter of Albert John Tweed Cusselle.

Stephen Antony Fremantle (1950- )
Edmund fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice. Sometime prior to 1940, Edmund was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He is mentioned in a dispatch in September, 1940, while serving on the HMS Warspite [1]. Edmund was still a Lieutenant Commander in June of 1944 [2]. And also in 1944, Edmund was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.).
He would eventually gain the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.
Edmund died in 1980.
