He was one early immigrant to Sweden taking part of the iron industry. In Sweden he was called fransos = Frenchman.
His contract of work in Sweden was written in 1600 and was about working in Värmland.
In Sweden he was variously called Påke Harneskmakare (cuirass maker), Påke le Mestre, Påke Jerndragare, Påke Gilliuson. He has also been listed as Påska Deniz where "Deniz" is a patronymic.
His original name "Pacquet Gilson" comes from a list from 1609 ("Stockholmslistan") where he himself has listed the names of himself and eleven others.
In later times his family name is most often given as Chenon, since that was the name later used by the family, but that name was never used during his lifetime. Maybe it is a distortion of "Gilson".
In 1600 Påke moved to Värmland to a forge in Fors. In 1616 he appears (as Påke Giliusson) in a Filipstad census and he remains in records there for 1629–47.
He passed away before 1632.
